learning in color

i am compelled to do it every year. i'm a girl who needs change. and mixing things up in the school room gives us all a good dose of fresh-start.

my plan this summer was to paint the walls white and board-n-batten the place but the hubbie put the kibosh on that because of too many other not-quite-complete projects. so, it's a WHOLE lot of blue happening in there but it sure is cozy. each kiddo has their own desk and we use the main table for snacks and projects. i sip coffee and read aloud from my favorite chair, yellow velvet & thrifted. (and it's where i sit now, typing.)

even with mommy's severe lack of sleep and all because of His grace, our first day back to more structured learning went fabulously. it started with cinnamon rolls and the three eating and chatting and me in my chair being reminded of why homeschooling was chosen in the first place. oh, that i may continue to have eyes to see the joy of it, the blessing in it. us together. messy and all.

so, the rest of the post is just a big huge schoolroom photo bomb.....lazily taken with my phone camera while they worked. {i've sadly fallen a bit out of love with my dslr for now.) so, i'm apologizing for their bad quality but maybe all the color will shine anyways?

there's more furniture in there but less stuff, believe it or not. i made all the books fit onto one shelf, a feat of engineering!

  7. You, my friend, are a TRUE inspiration!
You have an INCREDIBLE eye for color, vintage, retro, funky, items-from-nature...and the perfect way to blend it all together.
I love your laid-back attitude...you're inspiring this OCD-self to just "let it be" a bit more.

Thanks for the gift that your blog is!

    Love.
