upheld

up·hold  (p-hld)
tr.v. up·held (-hld), up·hold·ing, up·holds
1. To hold aloft; raise
2. To prevent from falling or sinking; support
3. To maintain or affirm against opposition

"and He (Christ) upholds the universe by the word of His power."
Hebrews 1:3b

"Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life."
Psalm 54:4

Aren't you glad that the God who upholds the entire universe by His word also upholds your very life? I know I am. Without Him, I'd be a puddle. I'd be sinking. I'd be weak. I only have life because He gives and sustains it.  An unspeakable gift.

Thank you, Lord, for upholding my life.

Speaking of life, it's teeming with it around here.

  1. i love the verses that talk about how jesus holds all things together. i SO need these truths because all the time, i sink. all the time, i fall apart, fragmented and scattered. He holds me up, holds me together, and i depend on that grace. thanks for this encouragement.
