immeasurably more...progress report #1

"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more
than all we ask or imagine,
according to His power that is at work within us,
to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus
throughout all generations, for ever and ever!"
Ephesians 3:20-23

Everyone still asleep, I crept back into the house this morning, sore already from my workout, waited for my coffee to steep and stared at the shoes piling up on the table.

And I was overwhelmed...AM overwhelmed.
The outpouring of love by you beautiful Christ-followers is beyond my imagining.
Oh, that I could meet you face to face, look into your eyes and give you the biggest hug!

What's also beyond my feeble imagination is how GOD uses us...how we are privileged to extend His heart to others, that His Spirit inside of us enables such love. What a gift!  And, yes, these precious children will be blessed by your gift of love but isn't the blessing really all ours?  I've never known that more truly than now.

And, may I say, your words and your hearts just shine Christ bright to me.

Thank you, all ever so much for giving, of course, but also for trusting me with your gifts.  I realize that this awesome opportunity I've been given comes with awesome responsibility.  I was heavy in prayer over every step of my day today, "Lord, wisdom and discernment, please?  Lead us to just the right lightweight bags, please, God?  Hmmm, should I get this pair or not?"

School for the kids yesterday and today consisted of THIS work.  What could be more important?  Math?  I don't think so.

We drove all over town the past two days, hunting out like-new used shoes at thrift stores first.  We still have more of those to hit but look below...40-some pairs of shoes all thrifted (except for the orange ones in the photo).

Yes, I've taken pictures of individual shoes but I just had to show you some that I found....almost brand-new or actually brand-new ranging from $1 to $4!  Can you believe it?!

I know these children need sensible, comfortable, sturdy shoes which (don't worry) there will be many, many of but I appreciate that these fit the bill as sturdy AND cute (or handsome, as the case may be).

Needlessly, as usual, I was concerned about the luggage situation.  The suitcases we could have used to pack these shoes in were SOO heavy...all those big suitcases are around 10 pounds or more.  10 pounds that could be shoes!

No kidding, I had already gone through the check-out at Goodwill today and was out the first set of doors when a swath of red fabric caught my eye and pulled me back into the store.  "Wait, are those bags?  BIG HUGE duffle bags??!  Bags big enough to hold 50lbs of shoes yet lightweight and small enough to meet airline standards?"  Yes, yes they were! New athletic bags made to carry equipment.  Perfect!  Thanks, Lord!

I'll keep you updated on my progress and my hunting and what all your gifts are providing.  And I'll also keep the donate button open for now if you care to give.

I leave you now with praise on my lips to the great God we serve, crazy excited to see where He's going to lead tomorrow!
