Clomp, clomp, crunch,
off they trekked
through the waving fields
and the peaceful woods.
Can you spot the rare Oliver monkey below?
There he is on the run!
Uh-oh, we've lost him in the grasses again!
Daddy and the kids had fun
while Mommy was away working for the day.
(He thought to bring the camera
and shoot all these pics...thanks, honey!)
I was sorry to miss this walk
on such a beautiful day, autumn winds
with summer warmth.
After church, we spent the rest of the day in His church called creation and, with that warmth still in the air, look what we found!
The boys were so excited. Usually we only see these snakes around here in the springtime. The one in the top photo was a big fat garter (we think) and the bottom one was a northern water snake (also, just guessing). He was feisty, curling up on himself and snapping at everyone. We love the excitement that snakes bring!
The kids had been absolutely begging to carve their pumpkins, so we did that, as well, and didn't they look happy about it?
Daddy was the official cleaner-outer and Mommy, the carver. The boys, predictably, requested angry faces and Lucy asked for a big smile. Of course, it was dark by the time we (I) finished, so, no "after" photos.
And, as you may know, on Mondays I type out my gift list here. Gifts not that I'm asking for but that I've noticed as given by God, that I'm intentionally putting down in type. All is truly gift, though, right?
"Now, our God, we give You thanks,
and praise Your glorious name."

And this tucked into my inbox just this morning....
"Thanksgiving is a spiritual exercise, necessary to the building of a healthy soul. It takes us out of the stuffiness of ourselves into the fresh breeze and sunlight of the will of God. The simple act of thanking Him is for most of us an abrupt change of activity, a break from work and worry, a move toward re-creation."
Elisabeth Elliot, Keep a Quiet Heart
