"Painting is just another way of keeping a diary."
(the boys hard at work and Lucy with her finished painting...
in the bathrobe that I used to wear at her same age)
With our "official" homeschooling on hiatus for the summer (but really, does learning ever end?), we're finding time to do the things that often get pushed aside the rest of the year.
Like a simple artist study on Picasso. We used Jimmie's great Squidoo lens to learn about Pablo and this website as a guide for our painting. We studied and discussed his paintings. And then we dug right into our own renditions....
Voila....here are our finished paintings. I like how the hair on Oliver's looks like fire and the eyes on Eli's make me smile. Lucy had fun making the curly hair.
I let myself be talked into painting one myself alongside the kids and I have to say that I ended up having fun. (Isn't that always the case with "yes"?!) I'll eventually get around to framing them (not mine!).
"Every child is an artist.
The problem is how to remain an artist
once we grow up."
What will you create today?
