"Praise the LORD.
I will extol the LORD with all my heart
in the council of the upright and in the assembly.
Great are the works of the LORD;
they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
the LORD is gracious and compassionate."
These girls never cease to make me smile. Their colorful feathers, curious and constantly-startled eyes, inexplicable red skin. Their food love, peck, peck, scratch, peck...begging just like our perpetually-hungry yellow lab.
I guess you could say I delight in them. Delight just is. I don't make a conscious decision to delight...to ponder the ways of my chickens. I just delight. I just do. Down deep inside of me.
"Great are the works of the LORD;
they are pondered by all who delight in them."
So, I'm thinking today...which comes first with the "works of the Lord" ...pondering or delighting? Is the delight just there, causing the pondering? Or is delight the fruit of the pondering?
My mushy morning brain will not allow me to think on this too deeply but I guess the ponder/delight equation is circular. I ponder God's greatness, His amazing creation, His wild rescue of me, His never-ending grace and faithfulness = delight! Delight causes me to ponder, or to open my eyes and notice that every thing comes from Him, is made by Him, is redeemed by Him, is sustained by Him. Great are His works!
