bringing the colors of spring in

It seems every year when the sun comes out and the screen door's constantly clattering, when the trees are heavy with raspberry-colored blooms and the daffodils are smiling, I yearn to pull the colors of spring inside our little nest.

I tape up child art...

I rearrange....

I paint (burnished gold mirror meet happy turquoise)...

I bring flowers in...living and in oil....(a $4 find! woo-hoo!)

I cut and stitch and hang....(new curtains made from old sheets)...

I purpose to create a peace retreat in the midst of it all....

...and refold and organize and use up what I have...

...like freshening up a lamp shade with fabric
that's been sitting on that shelf for a year.

That way when the spring brings it's inevitable rain and we're all holed up indoors, we'll still be surrounded with the cheery colors of the season.

Thanking Him that He did not create a black and white world!

"...behold, the winter is past;
   the rain is over and gone.
The flowers appear on the earth,
   the time of singing has come,
and the voice of the turtledove
   is heard in our land.
The fig tree ripens its figs,
   and the vines are in blossom;
   they give forth fragrance."
